Harold Pollard, M.D.

Harold Pollard, MD

Dr. Pollard was born and raised in Burlington, N.C. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar and graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry and Religion in 1970. In 1973, he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He did an obstetrics/gynecology externship at Kings College Hospital in London, England in 1972. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1977 and did a pelvic surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in 1978. He joined Lyndhurst Gynecologic Associates in July, 1978.

Dr. Pollard is board certified and a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He has served as the Obstetrics and Gynecology Division Director at Forsyth Medical Center, President of the Medical-Dental staff at
Forsyth Medical Center
, President of the UNC Obstetrics and Gynecology Ross Society, President of Carolina MedNet, and President of Carolina Health Systems. He served as Chairman of the North Carolina Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), Chairman of the ACOG North Carolina Public Private Partnership on HIV Testing and Chairman of the ACOG North Carolina Public Private Partnership on Smoking Cessation in Pregnant Women. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the North Carolina OB/GYN Society, the Advisory Committee for District IV ACOG, the Physician Advisory Committee for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and the Novant Health Triad Region Board of Trustees. Dr. Pollard was selected by ACOG to meet with President George W. Bush and Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson, in July of 2002, in a roundtable discussion regarding the professional liability crisis.  In 2015, he received the NC Obstetrics and Gynecologic Society Distinguished Service Award for lifetime service to promote the healthcare of women in NC.  He also received the Leadership Award for District IV of ACOG.  He presently serves as the Physician Champion for the NC Northwest Region of the NC Medicaid Pregnancy Home and as chairman of the Novant Forsyth Medical Center Foundation.

Dr. Pollard and his wife, Louise, have three daughters, Tucker, Elizabeth, and Nell as well as nine grandchildren with the tenth grandchild on the way. Dr. Pollard enjoys sports, especially basketball and tennis.
